About The Studio Services

Set in a quiet, comfortable home studio environment in Melbourne's south east, Let's Jam Studio & Recording Services offers you friendly and affordable service for when you're ready to record the music you want everybody to hear!

Managed by a professional musician with over 10 years experience in the Melbourne live cover music and Bridal industry, you can also learn more about what you need to do to get results in this competitive industry.

We cater more towards singers and musicians who perform with backing sequence accompaniment and/or acoustic/electric instruments used in these scenarios, such as guitar (acoustic/electric), piano/keyboard, percussion, brass or woodwind instruments. We do not have the facilities to record full bands.

If you have your own instrumental backing sequences that you want to record vocals or instrumentation over - great!  If not, don't worry.  We have access to hundreds of tracks, and can even change the keys to suit most artists.  Just ask!  Additional costs might apply for some backing tracks if we need to purchase them for you, but in most cases, they can be included within the cost of your recording session.

Pricing

(Valid until September 30th, 2010)

Standard Cost:- $49.50 per Song Sample* (Min. 2 Song Samples)  or $140.00 for a 3 Track Demo (That's $46.67 per track!)

Student Concession:- $44.50 per Song Sample* (Min. 2 Song Samples)  or $125.00 for a 3 Track Demo (That's $41.67 per track!)

* Song Samples are for demo purposes only, and not full songs.  These are generally 1 - 2 minutes long, and usually consist of a verse, chorus and fade out.  

Standard Inclusions:- 

- Recording session of up to 90 minutes per song sample

- Recording of Artist's lead vocals (and optional backing vocals)

- Basic studio vocal production during & after recording session

- Master copy of all songs on CD + 1 extra copy on CD for Artist

Additional time after 90 minute session priced at $40.00 per hour ($35.00 per hour for students).

Additional Options:- 

- Recording of live instruments and / or additional backing vocals (male)

- Promotional information printed on CD face (Incl. Artist’s photo & contact details) 

- Additional studio production

- Combination of song samples to create medley

- Link from Let's Jam Studio web site to Artist's (No charge for reciprocal linking) 

Additional options priced at $25.00 per hour or part thereof for Song Samples       ($22.50 per hour for students).  

Recording sessions and production of FULL LENGTH songs charged at $40.00 per hour ($35.00 per hour for students). This includes creation of sequenced accompaniment for Artist's original work, with or without live guitar.

Tips To Consider Before Recording Your Demo:-

1. A good demo should include at least 3 songs that showcase the versatility in your voice, and the variety in the styles of songs you sing.  If you choose to record covers, consider choosing songs from different eras and styles for broader appeal.

2. When providing your own backing sequences for a recording, make sure they are in the highest quality as possible.  Having poor quality backing tracks, including karaoke tracks with bad or pre-recorded backing vocals, can be a real distraction to the listener.  These distractions can detract from your vocals/playing, which is what you're ultimately aiming to impress with.

3. When choosing songs you want to record on your demo, make sure the key is right for your voice.  The right key can bring out the best qualities in your voice, even if it is a little harder to sing some of the notes.  When recording covers, one of the most important things to focus on is making the song sound like YOU, not the artist who sang the song you're covering.  After all, it's YOUR demo you're recording. 

4. Learn and practise the songs you want to record so that you're 100% confident with them by the time you come to record.  That confidence will come through in your vocal delivery when you sing.  It will also save you time and money, rather than correcting any possible errors during your recording session.

5. When recording with Let's Jam Studio & Recording Services, you can book several sessions over a number of days, so you don't need to spend too much time or money on one day.  This also avoids the chance of fatigue kicking in if you've been recording for more than just a few hours, which can sometimes come across in your vocals on the recording.  For your convenience, sessions can generally be booked for days or evenings, including public holidays and some weekends.

6. Try to make sure you've had enough sleep the night before your recording session, especially if you intend on recording vocals.  Whenever possible, you should plan to book your vocal recording session on an afternoon or evening, to make sure your voice has had ample time to warm up during the day.

Booking Conditions:-

1. Once you've decided which songs you'd like to record, call or e-mail us to arrange a time to discuss your ideas.  These discussions are better to take place prior your recording session, allowing more time for recording, and are at no additional cost. 

2. A minimum of 2 song samples to be booked in 1 or more sessions applies to be eligible for standard pricing.  Standard cost for 1 song sample only will be charged at $75.00 (or $70.00 for students) with all standard inclusions as listed above.  Each additional song sample after the initial 3 will be charged at $49.50 (or $44.50 for students) with all standard inclusions as listed above.  

3. Payment for at least one song sample must be paid on the day of your recording session.  For example, if you wish to record four song samples (in one or more sessions), at least one must be paid for in each session. 

5. Final recordings will be provided to Artist on a Master CD, along with an additional copy on CD in the Artist's preferred format (eg. MP3, .wav, etc.). MP3 files can also be sent to Artist by e-mail at no additional cost.

6. Artist will only be issued with final CD's after all payments for standard inclusions and any additional options as listed above or requested otherwise have been received by Let's Jam.

7. Conditions subject to change without notice.  Any conditions applicable at time of agreement between Let's Jam and Artist will remain unaffected.

8. Payment can be made by cash or E.F.T.

9. To be eligible for Student Concession rates, a Student Card must be presented when making payment.
